We ring in the New Year with this perfect little newborn!  I had the pleasure of meeting this amazing family just a couple of years ago and am so excited to share they new little addition.

I’m pretty sure her big brother is going to take good care of his little sister and their very special monkey.

We are so excited to welcome the new addition to the Calla Studio family and happy to report that mom,dad and baby are doing well.  Rory made his big entrance on August 15th and weighted in at 10lbs 1oz, we are feeling pretty lucky to be part of this little guys life and glad we could capture his first moments for family and friends to treasure for years to come.

Detroit Engagement | Waterloo Portrait Studio

Photography takes to me all sorts of places but this one was pretty special.  I have had family in Michigan for over 20 years my aunt moved to the U.S for school and never came home as she met and married my uncle.  This weekend I had the opportunity to photography my cousin and his new fiancé for their engagement portraits in Detroit.  I have always loved this city it is an incredible place with amazing architecture that has almost been forgotten.  We went to all the main sights, Tigers Stadium, Joe Louis Area home of the Red Wings and even the historic train station (which has been my favourite building forever).

It was a great day exploring Detroit and capturing the bond between these two.  I can’t wait till May for their wedding! Its going to be a great day.

Fall Kids Portraits| Waterloo Portrait Studio

I know we are all sad to see that little white stuff when we woke up this past weekend but don’t worry there is still lots of beautiful colours outside to enjoy.  It has been an amazing fall for portraits, I love working with all my clients but there is just something about playing in the leaves that is so much fun when you are a kid so why not enjoy them during our fall kids portraits!  This little one is getting bigger every year and today celebrates her 6th birthday! Thanks for letting us be apart of the family can’t wait till next year.

Newborn Fall Portrait | Waterloo Portrait Studio

It has been a very busy fall capturing all the amazing families outside in the beautiful fall colours, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been keeping busy with newborns in the studio as well.  We had one of our first newborn fall portraits this past week with this little one and her older brother. They were both amazing, I have to give props to big brother for hanging out with us during her session, it can be a long time for a 3 year old to sit still but he thought the big open studio was the perfect place to play with his monster trucks.

We have some expecting mothers waiting for their little ones to arrive, so I am sure you will see more newborns on the blog in the coming weeks.

It’s Fall Portrait time again! I just love seeing all the trees starting to turn beautiful colours, the brilliant reds are looking especially amazing this year. We have a packed schedule as usual over the next couple of weeks, but I am so looking forward to it as it’s such a special time of year and only here for such a short time. Here is a peek at one of our first sessions from October, as you can see the red leaves are providing a stunning backdrop for this lovely family! We still have a few spots open for outdoor family sessions, so contact the studio right away to take advantage of our annual outdoor special before it’s gone for another year.

Family Portraits Waterloo Portrait Studio

It’s been a great summer here at the studio, we’ve had some amazing families in for their portraits.  I particularly  love working with new families, they are sometimes hesitant when it comes to portraits, especially with young children, but there really is no better time to capture your family life as they grow.

Family portraits don’t have to be in a studio or formal anymore, we want to capture your family naturally in your everyday life.  We had the pleasure of heading out to this family’s farm recently and I have to say, what a dream location.  I know when most clients look around at their surroundings they don’t think it’s the best location, but to photographers there is always a unique spot that we don’t get to see everyday to take advantage of for great portraits.
