Family Portraits Waterloo Portrait Studio

It’s been a great summer here at the studio, we’ve had some amazing families in for their portraits.  I particularly  love working with new families, they are sometimes hesitant when it comes to portraits, especially with young children, but there really is no better time to capture your family life as they grow.

Family portraits don’t have to be in a studio or formal anymore, we want to capture your family naturally in your everyday life.  We had the pleasure of heading out to this family’s farm recently and I have to say, what a dream location.  I know when most clients look around at their surroundings they don’t think it’s the best location, but to photographers there is always a unique spot that we don’t get to see everyday to take advantage of for great portraits.

Remembering our Veterans | Waterloo Portrait Studio

Today marks the 11th day of the 11th month and at the 11th hour we salute our veterans for their couragest efforts.  Some laid down their lives to give us the freedom we call home in Canada.  They defended our Nation and gave us and future generations the ability to become whoever they wanted.

I am sometimes surprised in the way we react to the men and women that gave so much.  Today is a day to honour them and yet we give actors/actresses and rock stars more attention.  When is the last time you gave a standing ovation to the heroes in Canada?  Please take the time today to remember, as if it wasn’t for the brave individuals that gave everything they could to defend us we would be living in a very different world

Chicopee Wedding | Waterloo Portrait Studio

Mark and Andrea had the perfect day for a wedding on the ski hills of Chicopee on Sunday, we had a wee bit of rain just as the outdoor ceremony ended, but otherwise a great last weekend of summer!

These two are an amazing couple and made sure their close friends and family where involved in their special day. A truly touching moment was when they had their grandmothers sign their marriage license. What a great way to start their new journey, here is a sneak peak of their day:

August Family Portraits | Waterloo Portrait Studio

As many of you know, August is one of my favourite months to photograph. There is just something about this month that makes me want to be outside creating portraits 24/7.

We have had the joy of working with some amazing families this summer and this family was no exception. It truly is an honour to create family portraits for people and this experience was even more special as mom created a whole evening out for the family to celebrate birthdays and included this surprise portrait session.

We still have a few spots left open if you want to book your portrait before the school year starts.

Dog Day is returning this September! We are excited to be working with a new cause this year, The Lions Foundation of Canada / Dog Guides Canada. It is amazing to have this local group right in our backyard, their training centre is located in Breslau.

If you want to help this awesome organization and have a fantastic portrait of your four legged family member, call the studio to book a time before they are all filled up!

Perfect Night for Engagement Session | Waterloo Portrait Studio

I can’t believe we are already into August, it has to be one of my favourite months to shoot, so I will be enjoying these long warm nights (well hopefully the warm part comes soon) while they last.

Meg and Doug are an amazing couple and I have had the joy of knowing them for a couple of years now, they will be tying the knot this coming January. I will be standing up with them as one of their bridesmaids, so this means for the first time in a while I will not be behind the lens at a wedding. My amazing side kick Danielle Wilson who works with me on almost all weddings will have the pleasure of capturing their day. Last night the two of us got to work together with Meg and Doug and had a blast in Elora and some random fields. Here is one of my favourite images from their session:

Waterloo Family Portraits | Waterloo Portrait Studio

We have been really  busy this past month working with families to update and create their portraits to hang in their homes and to share with family and friends.

I love working in the studio, but there is just something about outdoor portraits that are my favourite. I don’t know if it is the challenge of a new location & the ever changing lighting, or just the relaxed environment and interaction with the family members, but I can honestly say I would photograph families all day long.

Call the Studio for some awesome outdoor portrait specials coming up in the month of August!

Elmira 5km Run | Waterloo Portrait Studio

Well I can’t believe we made it through our first 5km run last night.  I have enjoyed working with Mel and Pinacle Health and fitness in the learn to run program.  I am sure if you asked Erika or I if we thought we would be able to run 5k outside we both would have told you no, but Mel was an amazing coach and the group of women we ran with were so supportive of each other.

Here is a quick picture of us after we all finished!
