I can’t believe we are in the last week of August already, this summer just flew by! My family has had the pleasure of sponsoring a family in Belarus (a small country outside of Russia)for over 12 years now. Two young girls have travelled here to Canada to stay with our family, have doctor & dentist visits, and receive overall proper nutrition for the past 12 summers. This program was started after the Chernobyl disaster and continues today all over the world.
Unfortunately the oldest, Yana, couldn’t make the journey here this summer but we are thrilled that her younger sister Ira could be here. Every year I have made sure to take their portraits and this year I thought it was time we had a girls night. So out we went and I had to be in front of the lens this time, that was a challenge running back and forth, but I am excited to have these memories and look forward to hanging them up at home.
I can’t believe we have to say goodbye to Ira already next week and won’t have the pleasure of her coming back for another two years as she will be writing her University entry exams next summer. Her dream is to be a dentist and help others in her country. I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished, and I look forward to the next time I will see her.
